One month

7 maart 2016 - Brugg, Zwitserland

Sunday evening 22:00 PM waiting on the bus home after a great afternoon in Bern (a beautiful city. I finally got to see where my grandmother lived when she was my age), an old man walks across the crosswalk; slowly, with a walkingstick and smoking a pipe. As he walked, he awkardly looked at me the entire time, which obviously made me hope he would quickly pass me. Unfortunately this was not the case. He walked right toward the bench I was sitting on, and started to ramble something in Swiss-German, standing right before me, I have yet to understand it, though it became clear what he meant when he started making money gestures and pointing at me. So, there I was, at 22:00 PM, third week in Switzerland and someone thought he could buy me for the night... Just great..

Besides this strange experience, the past two weeks at work were pretty good. The working days are still long and tiring, but I don`t mind, as the work is exciting. I even got my own office last week! Sadly for me, as I have a habit of worrying too much, I had another astma attack, which lasted for two weeks. That sort of sucked, as each time it happens, my condition goes back to zero and everything becomes difficult. It makes me feel like an old lady. Fortunately it is all good now, so I can finally start working out again (No, other than climbing the mountain every evening to go home from work, I have not done any type exercise).

So far I have met some pretty great people here. This past sunday we went to see: Hail Cesar, I do NOT reccomend it. Despite it containing Channing Tatum`s pretty face, the movie lacked story. Due to the attack, I didn`t do quite as many exciting things as I hoped I would the past two weeks. So I filled my week nights with Gossip Girl, Skype sessions and crocheting (I know, it seems old and boring, but it is actually kind of relaxing). So it was`t too bad.

I am happy to say that my German is improving, or so people say. I am guessing it is just as an encouragement and to make me feel good. As I entered the bus the other day, the busdriver asked me: `Are you from Holland?` just after I said one sentence... Kind of embarassing. At least now I know for sure my accent still sucks. You know what they say, you can`t learn to walk without falling many times. I`ll get it soon enough.

I have now officially been here for a month, which like all places I have lived in before makes me wonder if I could settle here later. As of right now, I have no clue yet, only that in the fall I have been accepted to study in Almeria, Spain for a semester. Who knows what will happen next...

Until next time, I hope there will be something more exciting to tell
